PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Bates College men's squash team was edged 5-4 by the University of Western Ontario in the second round of Hoehn Cup (B Division) play at the College Squash Association Team Nationals Saturday at Princeton University.

The Bobcats (15-8), seeded No. 12, received its four points at the top three positions -- from junior Kush Mahan (Gainesville, Fla.) at No. 1, sophomore Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.) at No. 2 and junior Jordan Greenberg (Malvern, Pa.) at No. 3 -- and at No. 8, from senior Marc Taggart (Skippack, Pa.). Western Ontario is the No. 9 seed in the tournament, and the top seed in the Hoehn Division.

Bates will face Franklin & Marshall on Sunday at 2 p.m. to determine 11th and 12th place at nationals. F&M dropped a 7-2 decision to Williams on the other side of the winners' bracket on Saturday.
