PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Bates College men's squash team defeated Franklin & Marshall 6-3 on Sunday to claim 11th place in the College Squash Association Team Nationals.

The win avenged a 5-4 defeat to F&M earlier this season and capped an outstanding season-ending weekend for the Bobcats (16-8), who went 2-1 with a 7-2 domination of Navy, followed by a 5-4 loss to Western Ontario, the top seed in the Hoehn Cup (B Division).

Junior Kush Mahan (Gainesville, Fla.) won the clinching match in five games at the No. 1 position for Bates, a day after coming back from two games down to defeat his opponent from Western Ontario. Also playing a starring role for Bates was senior Marc Taggart (Skippack, Pa.), who went 3-0 on the weekend at the No. 8 position.
