HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates College junior Kush Mahan (Gainesville, Fla.) was named to the NESCAC Men's Squash All-Conference First Team, the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced on Thursday.

Mahan is the third Bobcat to be named All-NESCAC in men's squash, in the second year of the all-conference honor's existence. Ricky Weisskopf '08 and Sean Wilkinson '08 both earned the honor last year.

Mahan vaulted from the No. 3 position last year to take over for Weisskopf at the No. 1 position for Bates this year and he excelled, posting a 13-7 individual singles record. Mahan led Bates to an outstanding season. The Bobcats finished the year ranked 11th in the College Squash Association, placed third in the NESCAC Championship and went 16-8 in head-to-head competition.

Mahan and sophomore teammate Will Katz (Bronxville, N.Y.) will represent Bates this weekend at the CSA Individual Nationals, held at Williams College. The Bates women's team will be represented by juniors Hannah Laverty (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Whitney Roller (Haverford, Pa.).
