The MAINE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL is coming to Bates! 12:00 noon, Olin Concert Hall - KING LATI THE FIRST (Uri Bar-On, Israel, 2008). This 70-minute film will be followed by a discussion with the audience and two members of the community, Abe Peck (Director of the Academic Council for Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Studies, USM) and Fatuma Hussein (Director, United Somali Women of Lewiston) facilitated by Kirk Read. This inspiring documentary translates many of the issues of immigrant experience pertinent to the Lewiston community in powerful ways. Language, class, race, religion, nationality, and ethnicity form a powerful nexus in which the challenges and opportunities of multicultural identity are put into play. Tickets are $8.00. Come to the BATE ARTS LEWISTON ARTS (BALA) MEETING! Students will discuss a project to organize short term collaborative art projects with Lewiston High School. Projects will include: writing, A Capella, dance, documentary studies, music, and Dj-ing. This meeting is an information session for all who are interested. at 4:30 pm at 161 Wood St.

ALL-COLLEGE GALA this Saturday beginning with the Merimanders at 8:30 in the Gray Cage. They are followed by the Phil Rich Swing Band in the Gray Cage and the Kelly Bell Band in Alumni Gym. There will be a Bates Ballroom Society performance in the Gray Cage between Swing Band sets.
CHAPEL WORSHIP: 5:30 PM Skelton Lounge in Chase Hall. Michael Tyne, the Bates Catholic campus minister, is speaking. Chapel worship is an interdenominational, multi-ethnic Christian service of worship. All are welcome!
EXTENDED DEADLINE . . . Apply to be a leader in our community volunteer program: be a Student Volunteer Fellow for 2009-10. Volunteer Fellows coordinate site-based volunteer programs in the community and work to involve Bates students in community service activities. 6:00 pm COLLEGE SHUTTLE - The shuttle runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 pm - 12 am, and Sunday from 12 pm - 6 pm. The shuttle runs to Auburn locations at the beginning of each hour, and runs to Lewiston locations on the half hour.
