Today's events and programs

SHORT TERM IM LEAGUES.  Planning to be here for Short Term?  Get involved in an Intramural league!  Many activities for you to participate in:  slow pitch softball, bowling, wallyball, 4v4 flag football, squash, and racquetball.  Registration will begin April 1st and continue until each league is filled!  Get your team organized NOW!

DOODLING: There's a lot of doodling going on out there! Have you wiled away a class, a meeting, a sporting event, a public lecture.....by doodling in a margin, on a letterhead, on a napkin, or what have you?    Of course you have!  We invite you to submit your creative doodle for display in the Bookstore.  Feel free to submit your original or a copy of one or more of your efforts. ***All participants will receive a 10% discount coupon for a future Bookstore purchase  and will be eligible for a prize drawing.** For inspiration and a bit more on doodling, check out this recent  NPR article. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=101727048  /~It's all about the fun~/ The Doodle Board is going up now, so relax and get creative!  (We'll start taking submissions immediately--and we'll accept them until the fun wears off.)

This weekend FILMBOARD proudly presents Slumdog Millionaire!!!  After coming within one question of winning 20 million rupees on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" 18-year-old Mumbai "slumdog" Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is arrested on suspicion of cheating. While in custody, Jamal regales a jaded police inspector (Irfan Khan) with remarkable tales of his life on the streets, as well as the story of Latika (Freida Pinto), the woman he loved and lost. Danny Boyle's film won a Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Picture. Show times are Friday at 7 and 9:30, Saturday at 2 and 7, and Sunday at 2 and 4:30 in Olin 104.  NOTE: due to popular demand, defiance was switched with Slumdog Millionaire, so previous posters are wrong.  In addition, the Wednesday (April 8) show previously scheduled to be The Spirit has been switched with Academy Award winning The Reader.  As always, admission is only $1 No better way to catch up on movies from this past fall or watch them again! INTERRACIAL ASIAN ADOPTION: C.N. Le is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department and Director of the Asian & Asian American Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  He is the author of the recently-published book Asian American Assimilation: Ethnicity, Immigration, and Socioeconomic Attainment  (2007). His lecture is titled, "Interracial Asian Adoption:  Issues and Identity in 21st  Century American Society".  Monday, April 6 at 7:00 pm in Muskie Room.

TO REMAIN ON CAMPUS in the residences and to have access to the dining services DURING THE SHORT TERM, students must be in one of the following categories:
(1) Be enrolled in a Short Term Unit,
(2) Be a graduating senior who already has completed three units AND is engaged in an approved work or voluntary work on campus or in the community (form required from the Dean of Students Office),
(3) Be a full-time Voluntary Teaching Assistant approved by a Faculty member for a Unit,
(4) Be a full-time Research Assistant approved by a Faculty member (form required from the Dean Of Students Office),
(5) Be a participant on an intercollegiate varsity team in season (sport term - access on campus ends at season's conclusion).
Students not involved in one of the categories above will not be allowed to stay on campus nor have dining privileges for the Short Term.

6:00 pm  COLLEGE SHUTTLE - The shuttle runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 pm - 12 am, and Sunday from 12 pm - 6 pm.  The shuttle runs to Auburn locations at the beginning of each hour, and runs to Lewiston locations on the half hour.
8:00 pm Biology 101B PALG session.  The session is open to all students of the class and is led by Hannah Mack.  PGill 162
