C.N. Le, director of the Asian and Asian American Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, offers a lecture titled "Interracial Asian Adoption: Issues and Identity in 21st-Century American Society" at 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, in the Edmund S. Muskie Archives at Bates College, 70 Campus Ave.

Le is a visiting assistant professor in the sociology department at Amherst. His research and publications focus on racial and ethnic relations, immigration and socio-demographic examples of assimilation among different Asian-American groups.

He is the author of the recently published book Asian American Assimilation: Ethnicity, Immigration, and Socioeconomic Attainment  (LFB Scholarly Publishing, 2007), as well as articles on multiracial Asian Americans and anti-communism among Vietnamese Americans.

Le created Asian-Nation: The Landscape of Asian America, an online information resource and sociological exploration of the historical, political, demographic and cultural issues affecting today's diverse Asian-American population.
