Bates junior Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan (Topsham, Maine) won both the shot put (42-05.50) and hammer throw (178-11) to lead the Bobcats. Other event winners for Bates included first-year Tina Tobin (Lowell, Mass.) in the 100 hurdles (15.94) and the 4x400 relay team of senior Tara Higgins (Jeffersonville, Vt.), Tobin, senior Jen Marino (Methuen, Mass.) and senior Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.). Tobin tied Alexander for the Bates outdoor record in the 100 hurdles. Other top-three performances for the Bobcats included: Alexander, who was second in the 100 hurdles (16.68) and third in the 400 (59.71); Marino, who was second in the triple jump (36-02.25); Tobin, who was second in the 400 hurdles (1:07.46); sophomore Dana Lindauer (Needham, Mass.), third in the 200 (26.65); sophomore Chloe Bourne (Litchfield, Conn.), who was third in the 1,500 (4:53.11); first-year Jenny Monsulick (Readfield, Maine), who was third in the 10,000 (43:04.69); sophomore Lindsay Soule (South Portland, Maine), who was third in the 400 hurdles (1:10.85); junior Esther Kendall (Ridgeway, Ontario), who was third in the 3,000 steeplechase (12:35.00); and sophomore Sara Ellen Godek (Gilford, N.H.), who was third in the hammer throw (144-00). Bates next competes in the NESCAC Championships next Saturday at Connecticut College, starting at 10 a.m. |
