SHORT TERM PARKING PERMITS: Short term parking permits will be on sale starting on the first day of short term. This is for students who were not awarded parking permits during the academic year. Permits will be sold at Chase Hall Concierge Mon.- Fri. 7:30am- 2:30pm. If you already have a valid, orange, 08S or 08M permit, you do not need another permit. $20.00 will be charged to the student's account. Students who have accumulated five violations or are banned from campus are not eligible. Parking on campus is by permit only.

Panelists include: *Anna Everett*, Professor and Chair, Department of Film and Media Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara *Eszter Hargittai,* Associate Professor, Department of Communication Studies, and Faculty Associate of the Institute for Policy Research, Northwestern University and 2008-09 Fellow, Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University *Joline Blais,* Associate Professor, New Media, University of Maine at Orono, Co-Director of Still Water, and Co-Founder of LongGreenHouse. LECTURE: The Office of Multicultural Affairs welcomes Philippe Boukara, a historian specializing in Jewish studies and professor at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris. He is the coordinator of adult education at the Memorial de la Shoah, the premier Holocaust documentation center in France and a member of the steering committee of the Christian-Jewish Friendship Association of France. A native of Paris, Boukara is also Chairperson of the Eastern Paris Conservative Jewish Congregation (Dor Va Dor). He is the author of numerous contributions to academic symposia and journals. His books include: Précis d'histoire juive: Des origines à 1934, with Simon Drubnov and Isaac Pougatz and Une communauté au repúblique: histoire des juifs en france depois 1967. Bates, let's GET DOWN(TOWN)TO BUSINESS!! 12-1:30 on Wed. May 6th!! Please come to a kick-off lunch event, in the Mays Center, for the "Get Down(town) to Business" campaign. Lunch will be available for those who RSVP to Aubrey Nelson (anelson@bates.edu) by Friday, May 1st before 2pm. The event will commence with a brief presentation of what steps are already being taken as a part of the 'get down(town) to business' campaign, and what options are already available for the Bates community to better connect with the downtown. Then the floor will be turned over to the participants, and we will ask for input about what else we could/should be doing to support our local community and economy, how to improve our current efforts and options, and who else could be involved. I hope to see you there!

Students, student organizations, administrative or faculty offices who wish to submit a blurb to appear in the Bates Daily should fill out a request form in the Student Activities Office in Chase Hall by 4:00 p.m. the day before the date you want it to appear or 4:00 p.m. Friday for Saturday and Sunday editions. Blurbs for one event may only run in three editions. The CSA Office reserves complete editorial control over all submissions to the Bates Daily.
