ON-CAMPUS SUMMER HOUSING Students who wish to stay in on-campus housing this summer must fall under one of the following categories:
1. Students employed during the summer to conduct research supervised by a faculty member
2. Students participating in a Bates-sponsored internship program
3. Students working for an administrative office of the College
Access to summer housing is limited to the term of employment only and is not available until the day following graduation. Summer housing will end on August 20th for returning students and August 22nd for anyone not returning to Bates in the fall. Students who will be at Bates in the fall will be allowed to move to their fall assignments if they are still in summer housing at that time. If you will not be at Bates in the fall you will need to move out of campus housing on the move-out date designated -- no exceptions! Students are charged a fee of $55.00 per week for a double and $65.00 per week for a single. The week designation is from Sunday to Saturday. There can be no break in dates during the summer (i.e. vacations). Seniors must pay for housing up front in 4 week increments. Commons does offer a meal plan during the summer, which can be paid for through them. If you meet the above criteria and wish to live on campus this summer, please come to the Housing Office to fill out a summer housing contract by ****Friday, May 8th**. The contracts are available now, so please pick them up as soon as possible. The contract will need to be signed by your work or grant supervisor before it can be turned in. Students will be housed in John Bertram over the summer. Rooms for summer housing are assigned by lottery. The lottery will take place in the Little Room in the basement of Chase Lounge at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13th. If you will not be here during Short Term you will need to designate a proxy to choose a room for you. Space is limited and if there is a high demand for summer housing, students may need to live with a roommate. Please stop by the Housing Office or e-mail housing@bates.edu with any questions. |
