PEER WRITING is back for Short Term!  Special Short Term hours: Monday through Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 and Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30.  Just stop by for helpful, low-key feedback and suggestions for your Short Term writing projects – no appointment necessary. We're on the main floor of Ladd.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy presents “Wide band-gap materials and devices for power electronics for sustainable energy”, a talk by JAMAL RAMDANI, National Semiconductor.  4 pm, Carnegie 113.

CONCERT: THE MERIMANDERS are performing our annual senior concert this at 7:30 in Frank’s Lounge 280 College! Come hear old favorites, as well as some new tunes! It will be a very meri evening.

FILMBOARD has its annual DRIVE-IN MOVIE at 9 pm outside on the Library Quad!!!  In anticipation of the sequel's release in the coming month, we are showing Transformers!!!  Based on the popular toys that transform from machines into giant robots, this live-action movie from Pearl Harbor director Michael Bay finds the planet Cybertron inhabitants engaging in a secret war for control of Earth's natural resources, which they desperately need for fuel. Able to disguise themselves as cars, airplanes, boats and more, the transformers prove a tough enemy in this film starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, and Jon Voight.  All are welcome and it is a free event.  In case of inclement weather, the showing will take place in the Gray Cage.  See you all there.

This weekend FILMBOARD proudly presents Coraline!!! Curious young Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) unlocks a mysterious door in her family's new home and is transported to an alternate universe that strangely resembles her own -- only better. But when her Other Mother (Teri Hatcher) doesn't want Coraline to return to reality, our heroine must summon all her courage and ingenuity to go home and save her family. The breathtaking stop-motion animation is based on the best-seller by Neil Gaiman.  Show times are Friday at 7 and 9:30, Saturday at 2 and 7, and Sunday at 2 and 4:30 in Olin 104. As always, admission is only $1 No better way to catch up on movies from this past fall or watch them again! Free posters are also available for the fall releases W., The Rocker, and Transporter 3, so please come see a Filmboard member at the showing if you are interested. The complete list of movies for Short Term are Gran Torino (May 1-3), Revolutionary Road (May 8-10), Coraline (May 15-17), and Taken (May 22-24). There will also be a Drive-In movie on the Library Quad with time and movie still TBA!  Please remember, there is no food or drink allowed in Olin 104.

This Saturday the Student Activities Office will be offering a BUS TO OLD PORT for the day on Saturday.  The bus leaves from in front of Chase Hall at noon and returns to campus by 5 pm.  Sign up in the Student Activities Office in Chase Hall.

HOLI!: The Most Wicked Water Fight EVER Celebrate the spring season with a fun assortment of colors, water balloons, water guns, paint, and free refreshments!  Holi is a festival of colors in South Asia and is celebrated by throwing colors and water at each other. Salaam Namaste is bringing Holi back to Bates this year, so everyone can join in on the fun!  Bring friends and spend an exhilarating afternoon splashing colors, pelting water balloons, and squirting water guns at ANYONE!!  It is suggested that everyone wear white, and the goal is to get as wet, dirty and colorful as possible!  Come join us at the library quad on May 16th from 2 - 4 pm!!!!  There will be free mango lassi as well!! (Mango Milkshakes!)

COMMENCEMENT WORKERS NEEDED:  Workers needed for Commencement exercises, Baccalaureate, Senior Semi-Formal, Midnight Madness and Commencement Weekend activities.  Must sign up in the Student Activities  Office.  Housing and Commons privileges are given in return.  Sign-ups are first-come, first served.

ATTENTION STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: Please submit names of new officers to the CSA Office as soon as you have elections. The CSA office is in the process of putting a list of all student organizations and their leaders for next fall’s directory. The following organizations have not submitted a list of new officers:
