Thank you for your interest in learning Japanese. The following is a guide for fist-year students who wish to take Japanese at Bates College. This form is designed to help you and the Japanese faculty determine the most appropriate course for your level of proficiency. We ask students placing into courses other than Japanese 101, to consult directly with the instructor of their assigned course before beginning class at Bates.
