BEAUTIFUL ME
Gregory Maqoma, Vuyani Dance Theater
Presented in collaboration with the Bates Dance Festival

Gregory Maqoma, Vuyani Dance Theater will perform Beautiful Me  following a week-long residency at Bates College.  Maqoma begins with movement, text and music contributed by three master choreographers who have influenced him: Akram Khan, contemporary Kathak; Faustin Linyekula, visual dance-theater; and Vincent Mantsoe's Afro-Fusion, through which he defines his identity in relationship to history, humanity and nature. Four exceptional South African musicians accompany this performance.
