The PEER WRITING CENTER in Ladd has new daytime hours. We're open Monday through Thursday from 11 to 5 and Friday from 11 to 3. Stop by for some constructive conversation about your writing - no appointment necessary. The Center is also open Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 to 11 and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 5. LECTURE: Monday, Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m. Pettengill G 52Keck Classroom - Professor Richard S. Lindzen, Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology Chair, Dept of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science Massachusetts Institute of Technology will speak on "Deconstructing Global Warming" Professor Lindzen has worked in atmospheric and climate science for over thirty years and, was the lead author of one chapter of the 2001 United Nations IPCC report. Professor Lindzen will present the facts and reasoning which lead him to question whether humans are having a significant affect on climate change. Professor Lindzen will also discuss the rhetoric that permeates the public debate about climate change and global warming. LANGUAGE ARTS LIVE presents Chris Vitiello - 7:30, Skelton Lounge - Chris Vitiello is the author of two books of poetry Nouns Swarm A Verb (Xurban Books, 1999) and Irresponsibility (Ahsahta Press, 2008). Vitiello has had several short plays performed at Small Press Traffic’s Poet’s Theatre Jubilee, and he was a founding editor of Proliferation magazine. He lives in Durham, NC. Then come to a presentation by OPERATION WALLACEA (www.opwall.com). Opwall is an organization that designs and implements large-scale biodiversity monitoring programs in Indonesia, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Egypt, Honduras, Peru and Cuba. You can join the programs for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks, combine field-training courses, work on different research projects and use your research as part of an undergraduate or master’s thesis.
