Kendall, Bash win all-state honors at Maine championships

The Bobcats scored 62 points as a team, behind Colby and Bowdoin and ahead of Southern Maine, UMaine-Farmington, University of new england, Maine Maritime and St. Joseph's. Kendall (Ridgeway, Ontario) finished the 5-kilometer course in 19:36.80, good for sixth place out of 137 runners overall, and a mere 2.3 seconds behind third place. Bash (Wallingford, Pa.) was right behind in seventh at 19:37.80, giving Bates two All-State finishers for the first time since 2003. Senior Abby Samuelson (Freeport, Maine) came next for Bates, finishing 11th overall in 19:56.70, followed by junior Jen Mitton (Reisterstown, Md.) in 17th (20:15.00), sophomore Jenny Monsulick (Readfield, Maine) in 21st at 20:27.80. Rounding out Bates' top seven were fisrt-years Lindsay Cullen (Newburyport, Mass.) in 28th (20:47.00) and Liz Schulze (San Diego, Calif.) in 29th (20:49.10). The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the NESCAC Championships, to be held at Wickham Park in Hartford, Conn., at 12 p.m. |
