DIWALI! & Bollywood Movie Night with Indian Food!* Come celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights tonight from 6:30pm-9:30pm at the Benjamin Mays Center by attending a short prayer session followed by a showing of DOSTANA, an uproarious Bollywood movie and scrumptious Indian food. Movie starts at 7:00pm! Synopsis: When Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan) and Kunal (John Abraham) are turned down for an apartment because the land lady doesn't want two strapping young men to corrupt her young sexy niece Neha (Priyanka Chopra), they go to plan "G" - they pretend to be "gay" to secure the apartment. All is well till they meet the sexy siren Neha and thus begins a rollercoaster ride of love, laughter and thigh-slapping buffoonery with a test of friendship like never before. When Neha's boss Abhimanyu (Bobby Deol) enters the fray as the third contender for her affections, it gets even hotter under everyone's vests and bikinis as the boys get down and dirty, in sunny Miami. Brought to you by Salaam Namaste (The Bates South Asian Club) in co-sponsorship with: Filmboard, The Multifaith Chaplaincy, The Multicultural Center, The Student Activities Office, The International Club & The Cricket Club.

Come to Gannett Theater and enjoy four short shows directed by and starring your fellow Batesies! Don't miss hilariously awkward bar scenes, sisters coping with their fears, biting critique on failed writers, and seemingly respectable couples getting their clothes ripped off. 8:00 PM Olin Arts Center, Room 105 - FILM: GLOBAL LENS: SONG FROM THE SOUTHERN SEAS. Two couples, one Russian and one Kazakh, live side by side in relative harmony in a beautiful yet semi-desolate region of the Great Steppe. But when the fair skinned Russians give birth to a boy of decidedly darker skin, fifteen years of suspicion and acrimony arises between them, and can only be resolved by an ironic twist of family and fate. At times darkly somber, at other times tender and wistful and buoyed throughout by a soundtrack of folk inspired melodies writer-director Marat Sarulu draws on Kazakhstan's epic history to create a gritty and deeply compassionate tale of humor and cultural insight. $5 general admission, free for Bates students. http://www.bates.edu/x205194.xml
