Class of 1933
Edited by Ruth Rowe Wilson '36

Class Secretary: Ruth Benham Wilmot, Gables at Guilford, 201 Granite Rd., Apt. 211, Guilford, CT 06437

Got news? Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu! Father Lee Anthony-Gerald Stevens in 2001 celebrated his 50th anniversary in the Order of the Holy Cross. As a monk and priest, he has spent years with the Holy Cross mission in the Liberian bush as a missionary priest and monk living and serving among leprosy families. He was called back to the States last year due to dangerous military activity and upheaval near the mission. Father Stevens described the "heartbreaking business. Dissidents invaded many of the towns and villages in upper Lofa County including our mission and the leprosy colony, attacking and looting and occupying the towns, driving all inhabitants at gunpoint fleeing for their lives into the bush." When peace is restored, "I will go back. Pray that it may be soon."
