He still mentors an eighth grader and plays tennis once a week.... Sarah Foster Smith and David are moving back to New England after 11 years in the Southwest. David is being considered for pastor by several churches, so no location yet. Sarah retired as editor for several home-plans magazines, but her vision problem doesn't prevent her from singing in the choir or playing the piano. Sarah's mother, Beulah Page Foster '30 has lived near the Smiths, and they hope she'll join them back East, but she is reluctant to leave her many activities.... Sharon Fowler Kenrick and Ed were at their timeshare in Palm Beach until the end of April.... Nancy Goldthwaite Leech couldn't make Reunion because a grandchild was expected about that time. She was to assist the midwife.... Rachel Harper Garcelon had a visit from son Gregg last summer, back East from Montana for his 20th high school reunion. "My business, the Good Wife, is now in its fifth year and going strong. I take a few classes in art at Maine College of Art, volunteer at an organization called Well Suited, which provides free clothing and advice to women attempting to get back into the work place after divorce, abuse, or state assistance. Allan's two children live in Boston: Eric works for Sony, and Leigh is the executive director of STEP for the Boston Symphony, an outreach program that introduces youngsters in the neighboring communities to classical music."... Orson Hathaway is in his final year with Great American Insurance Co. in Cincinnati. He plans to retire in 2003 and move to the Wells Beach (Maine) area, and get a dog.... He may retire in 2003, and wife Jane plans to retire from her home-sewing business. They will travel, and Ken hopes to get in more trout fishing.... Husband Bob is employed after over a year of severance, social security, and pension status. Youngest child, Leana '03, studied abroad at Humbolt University in Berlin and has been on the rowing team. The recipient of the Janice Richards '62 Scholarship, she wrote a thank-you note to Janice's father, William, and they have become pen pals. On weekends he usually performs with his violin in venues that range from classical concerts to accompanying rock stars. Keith '93 expects to complete his Ph.D. in geophysics and has a post doc at the Univ. of Colorado in Boulder... Katherine Marshall Stricker loves semi-tropical Hilton Head Island and retirement. A European tour with the Hilton Head Choral Society was to take her to Vienna and Prague during Reunion.... Cynthia Merritt Fischer retired after 30 years of teaching in the public schools and in the Head Start program. She works part time at the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset. "I am busy enough, but particularly enjoy the time I have to read and reflect, visit with friends and relatives, walk daily and drink in the beauty of coastal Maine." Judy Rubin Cadorette, as an educational consultant in elementary math and science for Scott Foresman Publishing Co. for 11 years, conducts in-service training for New England teachers. Recently she dined with Joan Duarte Ohrn on Cape Cod. She and husband Edmund attended a math conference in Orlando last year and had a fantastic two-week cruise to the Mediterranean that began in Barcelona and ended in Venice. In June Ed plans to retire from 40 years teaching at the elementary level. Judy will follow him in August. Judy says Caroline Taber Kiessling is having "just too good a time as a retiree for us not to join her."... Warren Ruland retired in '95 after 33 years in the aerospace systems/software business at United Technologies and a one-year stint at TRW. Wife Gail retired from teaching first grade the same year. Son Paul works in the electronics controls industry in Atlanta area and has a son and daughter. Daughter Susan works for Frito-Lay in San Francisco. Warren spent time with his Bates roommate, Peter Gove, and his wife Susan at their home in Rockport, Mass.... Peter Schuyler says retirement is not in the plans right now. He and Sonja are continuing their travels to unusual places like Colombia, Siberia, and Taiwan.... From Denver, Robert Scofield and Jane traveled to the East Coast last year with stops in Williamsburg and New York City, where they visited the World Trade Center and took pictures from the top — "now a vivid memory." From Connecticut to Maine, Rob showed Jane some childhood haunts while visiting old friends and relatives. In Maine they visited Bar Harbor, Camden, and Bailey Island. Jane continues her work as a high school counselor, and Rob is in his 17th year as a financial consultant with A.G. Edwards. Ken says he's competing with Lee Majors to be the bionic man with two new hips and a new knee over the last three years. He is feeling great.... Al Squitieri probably echoes sentiments many of us feel when he says that after a divisive presidential election, it is good to see "a revitalization of the true American spirit of patriotism and liberty and truly unfortunate that it took the events of Sept. 11 to bring that about." They traveled to Russia and the West Coast, and Hawaii. Al is a member of the alumni council of MCP/Hahnemann University and he manages to golf daily. To celebrate, she and Ed took a two-week land and cruise trip to Alaska. She keeps busy singing with the Neponset Choral Society and church choir. She is also a deaconess and serves on the church by-law committee. She also reads, makes jams, jellies, and pickles, and supports Ed in his Masonic and Shrine work.... Fran Brasfield, assistant dean of student affairs, said, "Dean Wilson has been the driving force behind Kellogg's personality." He was roundly praised for improving the quality of life for students and helping to foster the renowned Kellogg culture of teamwork and collegiality.
