KING'S POINT, N.Y. - The Bates College men's lacrosse team snapped a three game losing streak by defeating the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 6-5 in a non-conference game at King's Point Sunday afternoon.

Bates middie Jon Fador (Winchester, Mass.) scored the game winning goal with just 1:40 left in regulation.  It was the first Bobcat goal since the 3:35 mark of the second quarter.

Bates (2-4) scored early and often in the first quarter, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Brenton Pitt (Duxbury, Mass.) scored the first goal on a feed from Brad Frost (Winchester, Mass.). Les than one minute later, Peter Friedman (Putney, Vt.) scored a man-up goal off a Frost pass.

After a King's Point (1-2) goal about midway through the second quarter, Bobcat middie Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Pa.) put Bates ahead 5-1, a lead they would take into the half.

King's Point would rally in the second half, scoring a pair of goals in the third and fourth quarter, tying the game on a Nick Watts goal with 4:46 remaining.

Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) tallied five save on 23 USMMA shots. Walter Keane saved 14 of 50 Bobcat shots.

Bates will host Gordon College on Tuesday, March 18, at 4 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Gordon, but due to field conditions, the game was moved to Bates' AstroTurf Field.
