March 25,
2003 LEWISTON, Maine - The Bates College men’s lacrosse team bolted out to a 9-0 lead after the first quarter en route to an 18-1 win over Plymouth State College in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game at the AstroTurf Field Tuesday night. Jon Fador (Winchester, Mass.), Brad Frost (Winchester, Mass.) and Brenton Pitt (Duxbury, Mass.) all tallied three goals apiece to lead Bates (4-5). Dan Ross (Chevy Chase, Md.) added a pair of assists while Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) turned in a superb performance in goal, missing a shutout by only two minutes and change. The Bobcats dominated from the start, putting the Panthers on the defensive. Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Mass.) got things started when he scored with 12:48 to go in the quarter. Almost a minute later, Mark Boccard Huntington, N.Y.) scooped up a lose ball in front of the Plymouth State goal and stuffed the ball in the net. Ken McGuire (Wayland, Mass.) notched the only goal for Plymouth State (0-3) when he scored with just 2:21 to play in regulation. Goalkeeper Tim McNamara (West Lebanon, N.H.) kept the Bates offense in check in the second half, after watching from the bench in the first half.
