2003 LEWISTON, Maine - The Bates College men’s lacrosse team scored all of its goals in the second and third quarters en route to a 4-2 win over rival Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game this afternoon at the AstroTurf Field. Mark Boccard (Huntington, N.Y.) scored the game winner off a feed from Brenton Pitt (Duxbury, Mass.) with 9:11 to go in the third quarter. Justin Platten (Newton, Mass.) scored the game’s first goal when he bounced a shot past Mule goalkeeper Matthew LaPaglia (Upper Montclair, N.J.). Scott Duddy (Concord, N.H.) notched Bates’ (5-6, 1-4 NESCAC) second goal, off a pass from David Pritchard (Narbeth, Pa.), with 11:03 to go in the first half. Brad Frost (Winchester, Mass.) polished off the scoring for the Bobcats with a goal that was assisted by Jeff Critchlow (Carlisle, Mass.) with 3:22 left in the third quarter. Mark Dobbyn (Warren, R.I.) turned in another solid performance in goal, stopping 18 shots. Ryan Glennon (Exeter, N.H.) got Colby (1-4, 0-4) on the board with 2:27 to go in the opening half. He scored off a, Andrew O’Connell-Shevenell (Portland, Maine) pass. Joshua Cleaver (Kennett Square, Pa.) notched the other goal for the Mules. LaPaglia turned away 15 shots. |
