Bates has one of the highest student retention rates in the country.

The most recent first-year to sophomore persistence rate (for first-time, first-year students entering in the 2003 cohort) is 96%.

The most recent federally-mandated Student Right to Know six-year graduation rate is 84.5% (for first-time, first-year students in the cohort entering in 1998).  (Eighty-six percent of fall 2000 cohort graduated within four years.)
