Rebecca Herzig holds the College's only full-time faculty appointment in
Women and Gender Studies.  She teaches a range of interdisciplinary courses on science, technology, and medicine, as well as Introduction to Women's Studies  and Methods and Modes of Inquiry (two of the required core courses for WGS majors).  She is author, most recently, of Suffering for Science: Reason and Sacrifice in Modern America.  Her current research concerns relations between technology and freedom in the United States, focusing on the invention and rapid spread of new forms of women's body care evident at the turn of the twentieth century.
