December 10, 2002:
Q: Who decided to install the TV?
Whom could I petition to remove the TV?
Who decides what station should be on the TV, and what is the procedure for changing the station?
If I'm the only patron, may I turn the TV off?
A:

  •  I'm not sure whose decision it was to install the original big screen T.V., but Dining Services decided to install the smaller one so that the big screen would not be on all the time. By doing this we were able to provide for both T.V. watchers as well as non -watchers as those who choose not to watch can sit in the back of the Den.
  • You could petition Dining Services, but this is really a campus matter. By the nature of the operation in the Den many individuals, especially students at night, take advantage of the venue as a place to gather and watch T.V.
  • In the past it has been the patrons who choose the station. It has been my experience that the time of the day usually dictates what is being watched. Dining Services has deliberately chosen not to dedicate the station.
  • Even if you are not the only one, it those in the Den at the time do not want to watch T.V. please feel free to shut it off.
