Q: My roommate and I got into an argument about your herb logs at dinner tonight. While I told her that herb logs were the actual name designated to the breadstick by Bates Dining Services, she insisted that she had coined the name as a joke. I was hoping that I could have confirmation from you that the name "Herb Log" is, indeed, an official Commons term. Thank you.
A: I had to check into this one myself as I have never heard this term used. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but in fact the term "herb Long" is not the standard title we use for our garlic sticks. We can though change the name if it is preferable. Sorry

Q: Is it just me or the Sheperd's pie served recently tasted weird, not to say horrible. I am the biggest fan of that meal and I would be grateful if its quality improves. Thank you
A: I will certainly check into this, but we have not changed the recipe. Thanks for your comment.

Q: I just want to say after a semester abroad I now appreciate the dining hall so much more. You do an awesome job keeping students happy and offering a wide selection of food options catering to so many different people. I was also wondering if you add water or milk to the oatmeal in the morning? If you do use milk what kind is it? Also could you please label the cottage cheese so we know when it is fat free or low fat? Thanks.
A: Thanks for your kind words. We add water to the oatmeal and our collage cheese is always lo-fat. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Q: Is it possible to serve the raviolli without sauce for those of us who can't eat tomatoes? Keep up the good work!
A: It is a little hard to do as the sauce keeps it from sticking to the pan. Though if you would like some without sauce, just ask the individual behind the station and they can get you some.

Q: Is it just me, or have the menus posted online been terribly inaccurate? How am I supposed to know whether or not I should go to the Silo for lunch if I have to walk to Commons to find out what's being served? :(
A: You are exactly right. We are correcting the situation.

Q: Raspberry honey mustard on chicken tender night was INCREDIBLE :) Usually I love a big bowl of sweet and sour, but it was fun to change it up!
A: Thanks.
September 27, 2003:
Q: I was wondering if we could get egg salad at the sandwhich bar a little more often. Its great and provides another alternative other than tuna to those who dont eat meat. Thanks!
A: It will be there every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Q: The Asian soup (make-it-yourself style) at the Marche station was amazing a couple of weeks ago. I meant to write earlier about how much I loved it. Please keep it coming!
A: Thanks!
September 25, 2003:
Q: Could we get non-dairy creamer for coffee please? Or coffee mate is even better!
A: No Problem. Give us a few days to get it in.
September 23, 2003:
Q: Thank you for having swiss chard served more often. Spinach at the salad bar more often would also be great! i just can't get enough of those DARK LEAFY GREENS!
A: Your welcome!

Q: Thank you for having seitan a bunch recently!
A: Your welcome.

Q: Can we get some chai in the dining hall? Thanks!
A: At this point in time, it will not be possible to serve Chai in Commons, though you can get it in the Den.

Q: The Asian Noodles at the Marche Station last week were simply heavenly. They reminded me of the food that I eat at home. It became my favorite dish at Bates (although I wish you would slice the scallions into thinner pieces). Please serve this more often, thank you!
A: Can do.

Q: How about getting Kashi go lean Cereal. Its a great CEREAL!!!! Lets get it dont commons!!
A: There are two problems with getting this cereal:
1) It does not come packaged for institutional use
2) We would need to get rid of one of the many many cereals we already have and when I tried to do this last year, there was a campus wide uproar.
September 11, 2003:
Q: Can we please have hummus in Commons? Please? Maybe in the Vegan fridge?
A: You got it.
September 11, 2003:
