October 31, 2003:
Q: The service at Commons is excellent, and I really do love the food. My FAVORITE is the sole with seafood stuffing- but I think we've only had it once this year. Is it coming back? Can we have it more frequently? Everyone I know loves it.....
A: I will make sure that you see this item more often. Thanks for writing.

October 30, 2003:
Q: Tonight's (10/30) spaghetti carbonara was excellent. Clearly, you have been tinkering with the recipe, and if you had told me about this beforehand, I would have said "No, walk away, it's already perfect". But I would have been wrong. I'd like to see this toothsome pasta dish offered more frequently. Cheers!
A: Thanks!

October 29, 2003:
Q: Although I know you have had it for a while, I just discovered the olive pesto the other night, and it was fantastic. I just wanted to send a little feedback. Thanks for all your hard work, you guys are great!
A: Thanks!

October 29, 2003:
Q: At the very beginning of the year you served a chicken dish - I think it was mustard and white wine or something like that. Anyway -- It was delicious and I would love to have it again. Also, I have noticed that a lot of your main dishes such as chicken or fish are often covered in bread crumbs. This makes things difficult for those who can't eat bread! More carbohydrate-free options would be wonderful. Thanks for all your hard work.
A: Thanks for your observations.

October 29, 2003:
Q: Your comments here. You use to have "name your own omlets" on Monday nights, my father loved them, thought they were superb. I no longer see it availble on Mondays. Whats the yolk!
A: We changed the format of the Monday night omelets because we are already serving them several other times in a week and have had some complaints. So instead of doing omelets, we are doing some sort of grilled sandwich.

October 29, 2003:
Q: HI, I was just wondering what has been going on with the milk lately. all the labels have been changing and now there seems to be no 2%. is this temporary? personally, i definitly prefer 1 or 2% to either skim or whole, and i feel like there should be at least one choice between the two extremes.
A: This was just a temporary thing. We have it all straightened out.

October 28, 2003:
Q: How come we never have carbonara anymore?
A: Because it did not have a high acceptability rate.

October 28, 2003:
Q: La Tortilla Factory Low Carb/Low Fat Wheat Wraps please for all those trying not to gain the college weight!! the phone number of the company is 1-800-446-1516 ... thank you if not Soy Pita would be a second choice and third would be wheat pita (if we dont already have it - im abroad so i dont remember). P.S. i miss Commons!!!!!
A: Let me see what we can do.

October 27, 2003:
Q: What happened to the Apple Blintzes at breakfest? They were my favorite and I haven't seen them once this whole year! Could they be brought back even once in a while?
A: They haven't gone anywhere, but since you are missing them we can serve them more often.

October 27, 2003:
Q: Where is the grilled cheese??? it should be there every friday, if not every day.
A: Being a cheese lover myself I understand were you are coming from, but we have to take into consideration that there are others out there that do not feel the say way. I will though take into consideration serving it more.

October 26, 2003:
Q: I would absolutely love if you could put out some bacon strips at the sandwich bar. Bacon makes sandwiches a hundred times better. The other day you when were serving BLT's at the Marche Station made my week when I took some bacon from there and made an amazing sandwich. Thanks, keep up the good work.
A: We can certainly look at making this part of the rotation.

October 26, 2003:
Q: I really like the idea of marinating stuff in miso and your miso soups, but the final product doesn't seem to taste anything like actual miso! Any way to change the brand of seasoning or otherwise improve the taste?
A: Not being a huge Miso fan I have to admit that I have not noticed this, but now will make a point of it. In addition I will have a conversation with the Chef about it.

October 25, 2003:
Q: No problem.
A: I just want to lend my compliments to the spectacular ham and cheese croissants, and say how great it would be were they to be offered more frequently. I know i speak for the people when i say this, so don't think of this as my request, think of it as a request of the student body as a whole. thank you very kindly

October 23 2003:
Q: Hi! I absolutely love your muffins in the morning. But could you possibly add regular chocolate chip muffins on the rotation more often? I only remember seeing them once this year. Thanks!
A: Can do.

October 23 2003:
Q: Hi Commons! I was just wondering what happened to the wheat chex. Could we please have them back - I miss them! Thanks!
A: From time to time we have trouble getting certain cereals in. Unfortunately this is one of them. Our order has been shorted the last 5 times we ordered this product. We have that our suppler will have it in stock no later then next week. Sorry!

October 20 2003:
Q: Hi. Thanks for all the great work you guys do! All of the workers really make eating at Commons such a pleasant experience. I was just wondering what has happened recently to the wheat chex. They have disappeared! Are they coming back? They are great! Also, would it be possible to get whole wheat wraps or any other flavor tortilla (sun-dried tomato, spinach, etc) to add to the vegan refrigerator? Thanks again!
A: This should be no problem.

October 20 2003:
Q: Keep that cider press going!
A: As long as there are apples we are going to press. Thanks for noticing.

October 12 2003:
Q: Is there any way you could post the nutritional information of the bagels served in commons? Thanks!
A: We are in the process of purchasing new bagel containers, once they arrive we will make sure that this information gets posted.

October 11 2003:
Q: Hi, Thanks for everything you do. I have two comments. First, thanks so much for having a variety of apples and fruit. I especially like the peaches. Second, two years ago you had a mint grasshopper pie on the menu. It was really good- fluffy mint filling (similar to a mint bar), with an oreo crumb crust. I did not see this dessert at all, last year, or this year. I was wondering why it was removed and if it was possible to put it back on the menu.
A: Well as with everything, people loose interest so that is why the grasshopper pie was removed form the cycle. We can certainly add it back.

October 11, 2003:
Q: I think that since we have such "fine dining" at commons every day of the year, it would be ok if every now and then we had "normal foods", like ribs, mac and cheese, onion rings, chili, just food that my parents dont eat. I know that we are going for a theme of elegance, but sometimes elegance gets tiring.
A: Thank you for your comments, but actually these items are on the menu all the time. I would be more then happy to review the cycles with you as it is possible , given the number of offerings we have, you could be missing some of these delicious staples.

October 10, 2003:
Q: The chicken parmesean was very good, and the tempeh with vegetables and coconut sauce was excellent. Could we please have more of that? Thank you so much!!
A: Thanks for your kind comments!

October 9, 2003:
Q: Hi, the pasta bar is great, but could you switch up the sauces every once in a while? Perhaps a pink sauce, vodka sauce, lobster sauce, or white wine? I'm getting a little tired of marinara and alfredo - maybe you could throw in one differnt sauce every day.
A: Thanks for your kind comments. I will pass your observations on to the menu committee.

October 9, 2003:
Q: A couple of days ago we had chicken wings for dinner which made me incredibly happy. THEY WERE GREAT. However, I was wondering if we could have them more often. As far as I remember last year they were a weekly routine. Keep up the good work! You are great!
A: Thanks for your kind comments. We have never had wings on the menu every week, though we can look into the possibility of adding them more often.

October 8, 2003:
Q: So far, the food in commons has been great. Thanks so much! I was just wondering if you could have baked potatoes a little more often. Thanks!
A: Thanks for you kind comments. We can add baked potatoes more often.

October 7, 2003:
Q: The corn chowder with cashew cream soup last week was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED IN COMMONS. Can we have it again sometime?
A: Most certainly.

October 5, 2003:
Q: Christine, that cinnamon & raisin cream cheese at today's brunch was absolutely phenomenal. Any chance it could become a permanent addition of the spreads section along the side of normal and lite cream cheese?
A: Let me see what I can do. Glad that you enjoyed it

October 3, 2003:
Q: Is the mayo used in the lunch salads low fat? also, what is the deal with ice milk? is that like frozen yog? what's the difference?
A: The mayo used on the lunch salads is not low fat. Not sure what you are asking about the ice milk, but just to clarify things the large soft serve machine dispenses frozen ice milk and the smaller machine dispenses frozen yogurt. Hope this helps.

October 3, 2003:
Q: What happened to the salad dressings we tried last year?
A: Some of it got incorporated in to the cycle and others we have had a hard time getting.
