LEWISTON, Maine - Evette Rios, a member of Bates Class of 1999 and an entrepreneur in network marketing, will discuss strategies and ethics for new entrepreneurs at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in Chase Hall Lounge at Bates College. The public is invited to the talk, part of the annual Bates Seminar Series in Entrepreneurship, free of charge. Founder of the venture Retire in Five, Rios started her business while a senior at Bates. Since then, she has been able to pay off her student loans while avoiding 9-to-5 business days. According to Rios, not all entrepreneurs are seasoned professionals who hone management skills by working for others, obtain an MBA and then strike out on their own. Some visionaries establish themselves in new ventures early in life, she says. They learn by doing. For more information, call the Bates College Office of Career Services at 207-786-6232 or check the seminar series Web site. - Phyllis Graber Jensen, Office of Communications and Media Relations |
