Next Reunion in 2006 Got News? Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu!Maureen Goudreau, a French teacher at Mountain Valley High in Rumford, was a 2004 finalist for Maine Teacher of the Year. With advanced degrees in animal sciences and health care policy to go along with her Bates bio degree, Maureen entered teaching as a second career. She also has a background in broadcasting, a great help for a project where her students scripted and performed video postcards in French, which were sent to classrooms in Maine and France. “Today’s students are very savvy and interested in technology,” she said in a Maine Public Broadcasting Web profile. “What could make a French class more interesting, bring home the importance of proper pronunciation, tap into the creative abilities of the various types of intelligences in my classes, and show these young people what an impact they can have on the world today?”
