Next Reunion in 2008. Got news? Tap out a note to magazine@bates.edu!
Colleen Donahue McCretton has worked to raise awareness of postpartum or peripartum cardiomyopathy. PPCM is a weakening in the heart muscle within the last month of pregnancy and the first six months postpartum. “I am a survivor of PPCM,” she writes. “I contracted this disease in 2002 with the birth of my daughter, Caroline. I almost didn’t make it to my 10th Bates Reunion, or many other of life’s milestones. I am now pretty much fully recovered. For more information, I encourage you to visit www.ppcmsupport.net.”
