Women's Lacrosse Starts Season with 15-3 Win on West Coast

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Bates College women's lacrosse team started the season on a positive note, easily defeating Whittier College 15-3 on Thursday night.

Lori Jessup '04 (Hatboro, Pa.), Carrie Smith '04 (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Shannon Tully '06 (Needham, Mass.) each scored two goals and added an assist for the Bobcats. Allison Marshall '07 (Princeton, N.J.), Erica Nason '05 (Concord, N.H.) and Erin Culbreth '06 (Montclair, N.J.) also scored two goals for Bates, while Sonija Parson '06 (Washington, D.C.) added a goal and two assists.

Beth Wolfe scored a goal and added an assist for the Poets, who fell to 0-1.

Liz McNamara '05 (Plainfield, N.H.) made 10 saves in goal for the Bobcats, who started the season with a win for the second year in a row. Bates will look to improve to 2-0 on their West Coast swing on Friday against Claremont McKenna.
