Mark H. C. Bessire took the helm at the Bates College Museum of Art in June, after five years directing the Institute of Contemporary Art, Maine College of Art. There Bessire's exhibitions included the award-winning eRacism, a retrospective he helped organize of work by visual/performance artist and Bates lecturer William Pope.L. Bessire succeeds Genetta McLean.
