M.I.T. Defeats Bobcat Women's Tennis, 8-1

2004 LEWISTON, Maine – Four different players won their singles match and a doubles match to lead the M.I.T. women's tennis team to an 8-1 win over Bates College on Saturday afternoon. Caroline Tien, Jen Hipp and Elaine Ni won their singles matches in straight sets and also won a doubles match for the Engineers, who improve to 7-4 on the year. Jaclyn Cichon added a three set win at third singles and teamed with Ruby Pai to win at third doubles for M.I.T. Laura Harris '07 (Mercer Island, Wash.) contributed the lone point for the Bobcats, defeating Pai 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles. Bates fell to 2-7 on the season and will face Mount Holyoke and Amherst on the road on Mar. 27. |
