Wicker Scores Five as Williams Hands Women's Lacrosse First Loss

LEWISTON, Maine – Amy Wicker scored five goals and added two assists to lead Williams to a 16-2 win over Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game on Campus Avenue Field on Sunday afternoon.

Wicker helped the Ephs build an early lead, scoring three of her goals and notching both assists in the first 11 minutes to open the game with an 8-0 lead. After the Ephs built a 12-1 halftime lead, Wicker added a pair of second half goals, as Williams improved to 2-0, 1-0 NESCAC.

Crista Petrelli added four goals for the Ephs, and Emily Gladden scored a pair. Meghan Dwyer and Morgan Anderson combined to stop four shots in goal for Williams.

Carrie Smith '04 (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Samara Khalique '04 (West Hartford, Conn.) scored for Bates, which fell to 3-1, 0-1 NESCAC.

Williams dominated the Bobcats on the stat sheet, outshooting Bates 26-8. The Ephs picked up 35 ground balls, including six by Petrelli, while Bates had just nine.

The Bobcats will look to rebound against Wesleyan on Saturday in Middletown, Conn.
