Babson Snaps Women's Lacrosse Team's 21-Game Non-Conference Win Streak

2004 LEWISTON, Maine – Alexa Rad scored five goals to lead Babson to a 13-9 win over Bates in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Thursday afternoon on Campus Avenue Field. With the win, Babson snapped the Bobcats' 21-game winning streak against non-conference opponents. Bates' last non-conference loss came to Randolph Macon, which defeated the Bobcats 14-9 on Mar. 31, 2000. Babson controlled the game in the first half, building an 8-2 lead. Rad scored four of her goals in the first half, including two in the final eight minutes to extend the lead to six goals. Bates trimmed the lead to four on three occasions in the second half, but could get no closer. Erin Conroy added three goals and an assist for the Beavers, who improved to 2-2. Allison Marshall '07 (Princeton, N.J.) scored two goals and added an assist for the Bobcats, while Carrie Smith '04 (Chevy Chase, Md.), Erica Nason '05 (Concord, N.H.) and Katherine Farmer '07 (Madison Conn.) each scored twice. Samara Khalique '04 (West Hartford, Conn.) had four assists for Bates, which fell to 4-3. Liz McNamara '05 (Plainfield, N.H.) made 10 saves for Bates, while Jennie Williams stopped two shots for the Beavers. Bates will return to NESCAC action on Sunday, hosting second-ranked Amherst at 11 a.m. on Campus Avenue field. |
