Tufts' Miller Scores Six to Lead Jumbos Over Bobcat Women's Lacrosse

2004 MEDFORD, Mass. – Dena Miller scored six goals to lead the Tufts University women’s lacrosse team to a 19-8 win over Bates College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon. Bates trailed just 6-4 when Lori Jessup ‘04 (Hatboro, Pa.) scored her second of the game, but the Jumbos closed the half with a 3-0 run to lead 9-4 at the break. The Bobcats were still within striking distance when Jessup scored her third of the game with less than 12 minutes to play, but Tufts closed the game on a 5-0 run to build the final margin to 11 goals. Jessup led the Bobcats with three goals, while Sonija Parson '06 (Washington, D.C.) and Erica Nason '05 (Concord, N.H.) each added two goals and an assist. Kristin Saldarelli and Megan Doughty added three goals and an assist for the Jumbos, who improved to 5-3, 2-3 NESCAC. Bates, now 4-8, 0-7, will take time off for exams before traveling to Brunswick to face 15th-ranked Bowdoin next Saturday . |
