Women's Lacrosse Falls to 17th-Ranked Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin scored the first seven goals of the game at Bates was never able to recover as the 17th-ranked Polar Bears defeated the Bobcats 18-9 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon.

Hilary Abrams scored five goals for Bowdoin, four of which came during the run in the opening minutes. Bates cut the lead to four goals with a 3-0 run to start the second half, but Bowdoin closed with a 7-2 run to put the game away.

Lori Jessup '04 (Hatboro, Pa.) led Bates with three goals and one assist. Samara Khalique '04 (West Hartford, Conn.) added a pair of goals for the Bobcats, who fell to 4-9, 0-8 NESCAC.

Colleen McDonald joined Abrams as a five-goal scorer for Bowdoin, which improved to 9-6, 4-4. Brooke Nentwig added two goals and an assist, and Kate Donoghue also scored two goals for the Polar Bears, who improved to 9-6, 4-4.

Bates closes the season against top-ranked Middlebury on Saturday on Campus Avenue Field.
