Bobcat Softball Swept on Day Two of St. Joseph's Tournament

STANDISH, Maine – The Bates College softball team lost both of its games on the final day of the St. Joseph's Tournament on Sunday, falling to Brandeis 11-3 in five innings and to Colby, 7-2.

Felicity Hanks and Sara Albert both went 3-for-4 to lead the Judges in Bates' first game of the day. Brianne Smith, who got the win on the mound, went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Melissa Leber went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Kyla Decato '06 (Paris, Maine) led the Bobcats, going 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Kate Hurd led Colby in the second game of the day for Bates, going 4-for-5 as Colby beat the Bobcats for the fourth time in as many days. Lauren Olmstead was 2-for-3 with two RBI and allowed just five hits and struck out seven for the Mules.

Cami Dyson '04 (Arvada, Colo.) had an RBI hit to lead the Bobcats, who fell to 6-17 on the season. The Bobcats will host the University of Southern Maine in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon on Lafayette Street Field.
