Sep 30, 2004:
Q: This morning the eggs nor the pancakes were properly done. I could taste the flour in the pancakes and the eggs were wet and sloppy. I think this was because the cook was rushing. Something to look into.
A: Thanks for taking the time to bring this to my attention. I will have a conversation with production about this.

Sep 29, 2004:
Q: The zuccini pasta bake at the pasta bar last night was heavenly!!! If we could have that again it would oh so wonderful!
Thanks for all you do, you guys rock!!! (If you don't tell my mom this, but I miss Commons food when I'm home)

A: If you don't tell your mom, we won't. Thanks for the cudos. I will pass it to the talented individuals who prepare your meals everyday.

Sep 28, 2004:
Q: Hi. I loved the veggie patties you served at dinner tonight (9-28), and was wondering what they were in them, and how they are prepared. Are they baked or fried? Just wondering if they are high in fat...
A: It is a garden burger product and it is baked. Thanks for your kind words!

Sep 27, 2004:
Q: We need frank's hot sauce!!!
A: We are trying...

Q: I was wondering if you could serve tomato soup on the days you serve grilled cheese sandwiches. You have in the past but last Friday the tomato soup was missing. Tomato soup makes the grilled cheese sandwich much better! Thanks!
A:  No problem. Thanks for writing.

Sep 24, 2004:
Q: Are your egg scramblers a healthier substitute for eggs and if not, could start serving white egg scrambled eggs or white eggs omlets?
A: Yes the Egg Beaters are a healthier substitute, but if you would rather have just egg whites all you need to do is ask the individual at the grill. They will be more than happy to arrange this for you. Thanks for writing.

Sep 22, 2004:
Q: Hi. I am abroad right now and I just wanted to say that I'm missing Commons and your great food. See you in 2005.
A:  This is such a kind email! Thanks so much, we miss you too. Be safe and see you next semester.

Sep 21, 2004:
Q: Is there any way you can label the soups as to whether they vegetarian or not? Thank so much.
A: Yes we can. Thanks for writing.

Sep 19, 2004:
Q: Hi, could you put out buffalo sauce with the chicken patties on Saturdays? That, with bleu cheese, would really give them a kick. Everything else is great! Thanks.
A:  No problem. Thanks for writing.

Sep 18, 2004:
Q: Could we please have celery in the salad bar all the time?
A:  Unfortunately we cannot run specific items on the salad bar all the time or, given the number of requests we have for specific items, there would be no rotation. I can certainly make sure that you see it more though. Thanks for writing.

Q: Is there any way we could have refried beans out all the time...like in the frig or salad bar? They are a good protein alternative to chicken.
A: No problem, we can put them in the Vegan cooler. Thanks for writing.

Sep 17, 2004:
Q: Hi. You guys do an excellent job with the breakfast, but I was just wondering as another healthy alternative if you could serve egg whites as an option on some days such as the days you offer omlettes?
A: We already do this. All you have to do is ask the individual at the grill and they would be more than happy to fix egg whites for you. Thanks for writing.

Q: Crispix is the most delicious cereal in the world. Please bring it to Bates! Rather than having both rice and corn chex (a similar but far inferior cereal), ditch the rice chex, and bring in Crispix!
A: I will take this under advisement. Thank you for writing.

Sep 16, 2004:
Q: Hi. First, I greatly appreciate the efforts that dining services has gone to make our food tasty and give us variety - I usually enjoy most of what you serve. However, for the last two nights in a row, the fish has been covered in cilantro. I find cilantro to have an extremely distinct (and unpleasant) taste, and was wondering if it would be possible to stop putting on fish and other food, and perhaps just leave a bowl of cilantro on the salad bar for those who do enjoy it. Thank you!
A:  Not being a huge cilantro fan myself, I can completely understand where you are coming from. I have spoken with the Supervisors in the kitchen and corrective action will be taken. Thanks for writing.

Sep 11, 2004:
Q: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BBQ Chicken Pizza...the pizza is sooo good. Can you please make BBQ chicken pizza?
A: It hasn't gone anywhere, it is on the regular rotation. Glad that you like it.

Sep 10, 2004:
Q: The food has been really great so far this year! Keep up the good work! I'm wondering if there is any way we can get low-fat cheese and low-fat chips at the sandwich bar. Thanks!
A: We already use reduced fat cheese on the pizza's and in the casseroles. As far as using reduced fat sliced cheese, we have found that it does not hold up that well. We can look into getting low fat chips on the salad bar. Thanks for writing!
