2003 Program Notes

The Bates College men's and women's golf teams look forward to an exciting 2003 season. The Bobcats return several experienced golfers for the coming season, and will enter their second season at their award winning home course at Fox Ridge (Auburn, Maine). Bates players benefit from year round playing privileges at Fox Ridge - one of the most demanding courses in New England. Co-captains Dominic Lee '04 (Silver Springs, Md.) and Natasha Robinson '04 (Georges Mills, N.H.) lead a hungry, talented group. Senior Andy Kadin (Short Hills, N.J.) expects to cap off his career with a great final season. Sophomore Sam Haaz (Flourtown, Pa.) showed promise in 2002 and played well under pressure. Junior Michael Hartney (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and senior Tom Hayden (Winchester, MA.) possess all the shots and look for consistency this fall. The women will miss Lloyd Lux Award (Bates Outstanding Golfer) winner Melissa Wilcox '03. A Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) Medalist and Academic All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) performer in 2002, Wilcox established lofty standards for those to follow. Robinson brings determination, skill and great leadership to the team for 2003.

The Bates golf team competes against many of the finest Division III programs in the country, including nationally ranked NESCAC and State of Maine rivals. Bates golfers conclude their fall season at the prestigious New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) tournament - the largest college tournament in the country.
