Holly's research investigates ecosystem development and linkages among atmospheric, terrestrial, and aquatic ecosystems. She is particularly interested in fog-inundated ecosystems and in combining approaches from modern ecology and paleoecology in the investigation of ecosystem history. Her commitment to making science more accessible and welcoming to the full diversity of people in society has led her to explore different methods in teaching and mentoring and to writing on the culture and practice of science.
