Mellon Learning Associates Program in Humanities, Short Term 2008
Grant to bring György Spiró as an intermittent learning associate in the humanities to Bates College to produce the American and English language premiere of his most recent play, Prah. Considered one of Hungary's greatest living playwrights, Spiró will be on campus during the performance week to discuss both his work and issues in contemporary cultural affairs in Hungary and in Central Europe.

Joint grant with Prof. Martin Andrucki to create two complementary anthologies of contemporary American and Hungarian drama. One anthology is to be a group of six Hungarian plays translated into English; the other will include a like number of American plays translated into Hungarian.

Mellon Learning Associates Program in Humanities, Fall 2003
Grant to bring the Oscar-winning Hungarian film director István Szabó as an intermittent learning associate in the humanities to Bates College to review his key film making concepts with my students of the FYS 293 Mephisto: Film, Novel, Screenplay course and to give a campus-wide lecture presentation on his films.

Special Faculty Development Grant, 2000-01
Curriculum development for Short Term course THEA s10 "Bates Theater Abroad: Budapest, Hungary" to assure international possibilities for Bates students and compile a complete course-pack including all the required readings and other relevant information for the course.

Special Faculty Development Grant, 1997-98
Researching contemporary Hungarian drama and theater by establishing contacts among Bates faculty and the theater community of Budapest. Seeking out and translating for production at Bates a contemporary Hungarian play of interest to American audiences.
