Panzer, Napolitano Lead Jumbos Over Bates Field Hockey

2004 MEDFORD, Mass. – Dana Panzer Lea Napolitano combined for all three goals to lead Tufts to a 3-0 win over Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference field hockey game on Saturday afternoon. Tufts outshot Bates 37-6 and had 25 penalty corners to just four for Bates. Marilyn Duffy-Cabana and Angela Rappoli combined for one save to post the shutout. All three goals came off penalty corners. With 9:05 remaining in the first half, Napolitano pounced on a Panzer rebound. In the second half, Napolitano returned the favor, setting up Panzer for both second half goals. Bates goalkeeper Sarah Sprague '07 (Cleveland Heights, OH) made her 14 saves. The win moves Tufts 5-2, 2-2 NESCAC. Bates fell to 3-4, 1-2.1-2. The Bobcats travel to Husson College for a non-league game on Wednesday. |
