Bobcats Dominate, but Husson Wins, 2-1

2004 BANGOR, Maine – The Bates College field hockey team outshot Husson 23-4 and had a 19-2 edge in penalty corners, but Husson defeated the Bobcats 2-1 in a non-league field hockey game on Wednesday night. Kelly Bocchino made 17 saves in the win for Husson, which improved to 3-7. Bates fell to 3-5. Karole-Anne Emery scored in the eighth minute to give the Braves an early lead, and Jane Fearon scored with less than 10 minutes to play to give Husson a 2-0 lead. Brooke Anable '06 (Plymouth, N.H.) scored her second goal of the season on a penalty corner with 1:33 to play to cut the lead to one, but the Bobcats could not get the equalizer to force overtime. Bates returns to NESCAC play this weekend, facing Williams on Saturday on Campus Avenue Field at noon. |
