Q: Hi, I had some of the vegetable curry for dinner (1-31-05) and was wondering if it had any cows milk in it. I am allergic to it... and had a reaction... and was just wondering if that was the culprit ... nothing serious but just to know for the future. Thanks!
A: The veg curry indeed does NOT contain cow's milk. We actually use coconut milk. Sorry for the confusion and I hope this clarifies things.
Q: ... just another question... do you know if the polenta has cows milk in
it?? Thanks.
A: No it is made with water.
Q: Hello, I was just wondering what type of oil you use for all of the fried food?? (.. is it hydrogenated, etc.) thanks.
A: It is partially hydrogenated.

Q: The Caesar Haddock with Parmesan Crust at lunch today was really good! It's nice to see Commons treat their fish well for a change :P I love fish, but often find the fish (especially tuna and salmon) overcooked. Please do treat them better! They deserve it! Please do make the Caesar Haddock with Parmesan Crust again, often. Thanks for doing a great job
A: Thanks for writing.
Q: I absolutely love the stuffed eggplant we had last night, can we please
have it more frequently as a vegetarian option at dinners? Thanks so much!
A: I also love it and it is now being carring, regularly, by our prime vendor
so yes, you will be seeing it more often. Thanks for writing.
Q: I have two requests, one that there always be chicken at the salad bar so
you can put it in your salad. Two that the lunch meat stuff is out for dinners too.
A: We rotate items on the salad bar and chicken is one of the rotation item.
We can certainly make sure it is on the rotation more often and there is
deli meat out every night, it is on the salad bar. Thanks for writing

Q: What happened to the plain bran muffins, sans raisins??
A: They are on the cycle. Thanks for writing.
Q: It was wondering if there was any way to change the cooking spray you use in Commons (like for eggs and omlets). Currently you use a brand that has "partially hydrogenated soybean oil" in it (a trans fat). This type of fat is really bad for you and I was wondering if you could switch to some other oil that is better for you (canola oil, olive oil, etc.) Thanks.
A: The pan release spray that we use was choose for several reasons :
1) It works well for all applications within the operation, thus eliminating the need to purchase different spray releases, depending where it is used within the operation - Bakery, Marche, Hot Kitchen, etc...
2) The spray we use does have partially hydrogenated soybean oil but it is listed as a trivial amount indicating that there is just minute trace amount in the mix.
While this still does not deal with the fact that this is a trans fat, it is just a tace amount and we will be working on other options.
Q: Could we have rasberry vinegarette dressing more often?
A: No problem. Thanks for writing.

Q: Why is the online menu for Sundays always incorrect? Also, would it be
possible to have fruit salads or grapefruit for Sunday brunch because Sunday is the only day I have time to enjoy the grapefruit! Thanks.
A: I will check into the on-line problem, not sure why it is incorrect, but
thanks for bring it to my attention. As for the grape fruit on Sundays,
this should not be a problem. Thanks for writing.
