Bobcats Defeat Babson to Improve to .500

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak, beating Babson 7-2 in the Bobcats' home opener on Friday afternoon at the Wallach Tennis Center.

Tara DeVito '05 (East Hills, N.Y.) led the Bobcats, winning at first singles and second doubles. Liz Currie '06 (Yarmouth, Maine) and Laura Harris '07 (Mercer Island, Wash.) also won singles and doubles matches for the Bobcats, who improved to 2-2.

Francesca Russo won singles and doubles matches to lead Babson, which fell to 7-3.

Bates will face Middlebury at 8 a.m. on Sunday, then wraps up the fall portion of the schedule at the NEWITT Championships at Amherst next weekend.
