Bobcat Field Hockey Falls to Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin scored three goals in the first nine minutes en route to a 5-0 win over Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference field hockey game on Wednesday night.

Colleen McDonald, Christi Gannon and Taryn King gave the Polar Bears a 3-0 halftime lead, and Hillary Hoffman and Marissa O’Neil added insurance goals in the final 17 minutes.

Bowdoin outshot Bates 17-4, but held a slim advantage in penalty corners, 7-5.

Sarah Judice '06 (Granby, Conn.) made nine saves for the Bobcats, while Kate Leonard stopped four shots to post the shutout for Bowdoin.

Bates fell to 3-7, 1-4 NESCAC, while Bowdoin improved to 6-3, 4-2. The Bobcats will host Wesleyan at noon on Saturday on Campus Avenue Field.
