Field Hockey Falls to Trinity, 3-1

HARTFORD, Conn. –
Brooke Anable scored her team-high fifth goal of the season for Bates, but three players scored goals for Trinity to lead the Bantams to a 3-1 win over the Bobcats in a New England Small College Athletic Conference field hockey game on Wednesday afternoon.

Trinity's Patricia Glennon scored halfway through the first half, and Jessica Baker gave the Bantams a 2-0 lead with less than a minute to play before halftime.

Anable '06 (Plymouth, N.H.) cut the lead to one early in the second half, but Marisa Shutte restored the two-goal cushion less than three minutes later.

Sarah Sprague '07 (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) made eight saves for Bates, while Courtney Bergh stopped nine shots for the Bantams. Trinity held a slim 18-16 shot advantage.

Bates fell to 3-9, 1-6 NESCAC, while Trinity improved to 8-4, 4-3. The Bobcats will face Middlebury, ranked third nationally, this weekend in Vermont.
