Four Score to Lead Colby to 4-1 Win Over Bobcats

LEWISTON, Maine – Four players scored goals to lead the Colby field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Bates in last game of the New England Small College Athletic Conference schedule at Campus Avenue Field on Saturday afternoon.

Colby improved to 8-6, 3-6 NESCAC. The Mules earned the No. 7 seed in the NESCAC Championship and will face second seeded Bowdoin in a first round game at 1 p.m. in Brunswick on Sunday. Bates finished the season 3-11, 1-8.

Adrienne LeClair gave Colby a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game, and Lauren Smith gave the Mules a two goal lead less than four minutes later.

Bates' Erin Chanlder '08 (Thornton, Pa.) scored with less than 20 minutes to play to cut the lead to one, but Christine Malony and Jennifer Reilly scored insurance goals for the Mules to put the game away.

Sarah Sprague '07 (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) made 14 saves in goal for Bates. Jamie Enos stopped seven shots for Colby.
