Class of 1942
Edited by Christine Terp Madsen '73

Class Secretary: Martha Blaisdell Mabee, 94 Fifer Ln., Lexington MA 02420

Co-Class Presidents: Virginia Hayden, 8 Eden Ave., W. Newton MA 02465; John James, 559 W. Auburn Rd., Auburn ME 04210

Armand Daddazio celebrated his 85th birthday on the golf course in 60-degree temperatures. He hasn't shot his age yet - needs another 15 years or so!... Virginia Day Hayden has three grandchildren at Bates this year; two from the same family! ("How do they manage costs?") As a former Trustee, she receives The Bates Student, and sometimes learns more than she cares to about Bates life!... Barbara Fish Briggs reports that all is going well at her retirement home, except for too many old people.... "Same old routine," says Ray Harvey. He played golf in the 80s ("temperature, not score") and still hangs in there with tennis.... Louis Hervey retired from the board of directors of Fort Drum Liaison Organization last year, the last of his many community services.... Helen Martin Aucoin volunteers at Cincinnati Pops and Symphony, and with the Loveland Museum.... Barbara McGee Chasse enjoys volunteering in a fifth-grade language arts class in Saco, Maine. "Little do they know who gets the greatest rewards!" she says.... Beatrice Wilson Shepherd writes that she and Shep '40 are enjoying the people, the activities, and their view of the ocean at their new retirement community, Piper Shores, in Scarborough, Maine, but do still miss their house in the woods in West Bath. She is in a singing group and on the library committee while Shep is in an investment group, so they keep busy.... Jane Woodbury Quimby's big news is her move from her Wolfeboro, N.H., home of 40 years to son Gordon's home in Dover, N.H.... Ruth Wyer Haines plays bridge weekly and volunteers at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine.
