LEWISTON, Maine – Controlling the majority of face-offs (11-5) and groundballs (32-11), the Bates College men’s lacrosse team improved to 4-0 Sunday, beating Trinity College 7-5; it was the Bobcats’ first win over the Bantams since the 2003 season.

Behind solid goaltending from Paul Kazarian ’06 (Providence, R.I.), Bates jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Kazarian finished with 14 saves and held Trinity to just two goals until late in the fourth quarter.

Brenton Pitt ’06 (Duxbury, Mass.) scored two goals for Bates, while Matt Erisman ’07 (Nantucket, Mass.), Pete Friedman ’05 (Putney, Vt.) and David Pritchard ’06 (Narbeth, Pa.) scored one apiece.

Trinity trailed 7-2 in the fourth quarter but netted three goals in the final four minutes. The Bobcats, however, were able to control late face-offs and maintain possession in the offensive end to preserve the win.

The Bantams (1-1) were led by Chad Burdette ’06 (Owing Mills, Md.), who netted two goals.
