Men's Lacrosse Improves to 5-0

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bates College men’s lacrosse team improved to 5-0 Tuesday, beating Gordon College 11-6. Matt Erisman ’07 (Nantucket, Mass.) led the Bobcats with two goals and two assists, while Justin Simon ’08 (Canaan, N.H.) scored three goals. Captain Peter Friedman ’05 (Putney, Vt.) contributed two goals and an assist, along with Wes Couture ’07 (South Hadley, Mass.), who also scored two goals. Dave Pritchard ’06 (Narbeth, Pa.) scored one goal, and Brent Morin ’08 (Hanover, N.H.) provided the Bobcats with a goal and an assist. Michael Neumann ’07 (Fallston, Md.) and Jon Harshaw ’06 (Newtown Square, Pa.) led Gordon College with two goals each. Matthew Hawkins ’08 (Oakland, Calif.) and Dan Mitchell ’06 (Newtown Square, Pa.), also scored one goal apiece for the Fighting Scots. Gordon jumped out to an early 2-0 but Bates evened the score, 3-3, before the end of the first quarter. With the help of strong defensive play by Ryan O’Connor ’06 (Avon, Conn.), who lead the team with seven ground balls, the Bobcats led for the remainder of the game. Bates travels to Wesleyan University on March 26 for a 1:00 p.m. start. |
